News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Lady Outlaws dropped their first league match of the season at home on Tuesday, October 11, against Elmira.
Sisters got off to an unfortunate start when senior Lizzy Carhart injured her knee during a play at the net, and from there the team wasn't the same. The Outlaws battled with the Falcons in a grueling five-game match that ended in a loss for Sisters. Final scores were 25-15, 24-26, 25-14, 25-27 and 9-15.
"It was a tough loss for us tonight," said Coach Diane Bremer. "Elmira is a much improved program, and their team wanted the win. We just didn't have the intensity and energy to match theirs tonight."
Megan Minke led the Outlaws with nine kills and five blocks, and Bailey Bremer followed with seven kills. Kristina Johns contributed six kills, Nila Lukens had five, and Kristina Sparling added three kills and two blocks in the match.
Shannon Fouts ran the Outlaws' offense and dished out 28 assists on the night. Fouts also recorded 13 digs and had an impressive performance at the service line, going 29/30 with five aces.
Sydney Stoneback and Kristina Johns both led the team with 16 digs. Bremer logged eight digs and Savannah Spear and Johns each added five.
The loss puts Sisters at 6-1 in league. The Outlaws will travel to Cottage Grove on Thursday, October 20.
