News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
From the first time that 9-year-old Anastacia picked up a beat-up guitar leaning against a dumpster, she's been using music as a means to channel her emotions and remove the layers that impede personal growth. Her haunting, heartfelt lyrics dive head first into topics often kept shuttered and unexplored.
"Where the Road Meets the Sky" is the title track on the Sisters artist's new CD. Brimming with tales of hard-won truth, Anastacia's songs don't shy away from difficult issues.
"My commitment to art is not always an easy path, because a lot of times I really have to stand out with my whole authentic self exposed," she said. "With my music, I am guided to speak of the unspeakable... what people are afraid to express.
"The CD reflects my experience with the loss of many loved ones in the past year. Life really is about birth and death. I have just begun to learn the most valuable gift we get from facing death which is living life more fully, passionately and being more present in the moment," she said.
Anastacia was involved in every aspect of her CD's creation. She co-produced it with Lino Alessio at JWolf studios.
"Lino is a professional musician and an incredible producer and recording technician," she said. "I did every single step with him. I care about every detail of my art and I like to be a part of the whole process. Lino was a beautiful
collaborator."
"Golden Hair," is one of her favorite cuts off the album. "The message talks about the healing power of music."
Anastacia is looking forward to sharing her new songs at a CD release concert at HarmonyHouse on Saturday, November 19, doors open at 7 p.m. Anastacia will also be performing at the Tower Theatre in Bend on Friday, November 11, doors open at 6 p.m. for the Maiden Bend Music Festival.
