News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
To the Editor:
With all due respect to the freight industry, we cannot allow them to determine what is best for our town of Sisters.
Sitting at Barclay and Highway 20 this morning waiting to cross, taking my daughter to school: I see something coming. What is it? Oh, just another fully loaded semi-truck bearing down on our little intersection. Is he slowing down to 45 mph? Yeah, right. He's doing at least 60.
Meanwhile, parents with kids, school busses with kids, and, well, just kids, are busy trying to get to school. Where? Well, right there at our little intersection.
Is this the first time I've seen a truck driver disrespect the speed limits of our town? No. I see them flying through here all the time. And we're going to let these guys tell us what's best for our community?
We need a safe intersection. Something to slow down cars and trucks. Something that has been proven to save lives. Something that will save lives over many years to come.
The answer? A roundabout. A roundabout. A roundabout.

On November 9, the Sisters Rotary Club hosted the Harlem Ambassadors professional show basketball team for a night of high-flying slam dunks, hilarious comedy, and feel-good family
entertainment.
The Harlem Ambassadors would like to extend a special thank-you to event organizers Craig May and Steve Auerbach who planned and promoted the game. The Rotary Rebounders proved to be an energetic and enthusiastic challenging team and we thank all of the players for their good sportsmanship. The event would not have been possible without the support and generosity of local community sponsors, the Sisters Rotary Club members, and the event
volunteers.
The Harlem Ambassadors thank the community of Sisters for its warm hospitality and look forward to returning to Sisters in the future!
Dale Moss
Harlem Ambassadors President
