Tickets on sale for Starry Christmas

Tickets are now on sale for the next Starry Nights production, "A Starry Nights Christmas with Gary Morris."

Morris first appeared at Starry Nights in 1998, where he thrilled the audience with a magnificent voice that has made him a country music and Broadway star. He will make a special stop in Sisters on his national tour to bring his celebrated acoustic Christmas concert to the Sisters High School stage on Saturday, December 17. Thanks to Morris' great generosity in once again donating his time, the event will raise much-needed funds for the Sisters Schools Foundation.

Gary's son, singer-songwriter Matt Morris, will be joining his father for the performance, taking the Starry Nights audience on a musical holiday journey that promises to be unforgettable. A rising star on the music scene, Matt released his solo album "When Everything Breaks Open" last year to critical rave reviews, and appeared on such shows as "Ellen" and "Letterman." Matt is also an award-winning songwriter who has co-written with Christina Aguilera and penned hits for such artists as Justin Timberlake, Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson.

"A Starry Nights Christmas with Gary Morris" will showcase Gary and Matt's brilliant vocals and soaring harmonies on their gorgeous versions of Christmas songs, which many fans have enjoyed every holiday season on Gary's classic Christmas album "My Son, Your Christmas." Gary and Matt will be accompanied by another Starry Nights veteran, pianist and Dove Award-nominated Christian music artist Carl Herrgesell, who last performed in Sisters in 2004 as part of Kenny Loggins' band. Carl has recently released his fourth solo album, "Grace," featuring a selection of piano solos and vocal cuts.

Gary Morris is probably best known for his original recording of "Wind Beneath My Wings," which won both the CMA and the ACM Song of the Year Awards.

At the height of his Nashville recording career, Morris played opposite Linda Ronstadt in the New York Shakespeare Festival production of Puccini's opera "La Boheme," then earned the lead role of Jean Valjean in "Les Miserables" on Broadway.

Receiving resounding critical praise, including a Drama Desk Best Actor nomination, his performance set the standard for this challenging role.

Morris' famous rendition of "Bring Him Home" can be found on the platinum-selling Grammy Award-winning international cast album, as well as on his latest CD, "Gospel Classics, Volume 2 - Rock of Ages."

His stunning voice has graced the historic stage of the Grand Ole Opry, as well as the White House, where he has performed for presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Morris' versatile career has taken him from producing sixteen top ten and five number-one country hits and to a command performance for the Queen of England.

Starry Nights events have raised over $970,000 in net proceeds for the Sisters Schools Foundation since 1997. The volunteer-run organization produces concerts, plays and other fundraising events to provide support to the Sisters School District.
