Outlaws football has eight on all-league roster

The Outlaws football team named eight of its players to all-league teams, including Cole Moore, Connor Morgan, Bryce Alderman and Shane Groth, who were first-team all-league picks.

Moore, a junior, earned first-team all-league receiver. Moore had several big games in league matchups for the Outlaws this year, and according to Coach Clyde Powell was probably the surprise player in the conference.

"There's no limit on how good Cole can be once he sets his goals for next fall," said Powell. "With a little more speed he will be a major concern for the opposing defensive coaches next year."

Morgan was named first-team defensive back. As a senior, Connor was a team leader and a committed player. Connor was one of the top interception leaders in the league and usually one of the top leaders in tackles for the Outlaws. Morgan also doubled as receiver on offense.

Alderman, a senior, was honored as first-team all-league tight end. Bryce demonstrated his ability to dominate at his position. Alderman also was an honorable-mention selection at linebacker.

"Bryce had numerous 'pancake' blocks, and his blocking was key to the success of our running game," said Powell. "He also proved to be a reliable receiver from the tight-end position. He was one of our team captains and displayed strong leadership skills."

Groth was selected first-team all-league linebacker. The senior team captain led the team in tackles and played his best games against the toughest opponents.

"His contributions as a leader and his relentless effort helped the Outlaws reach the play-in game this fall in the Sky-Em League," said Powell. "His teammates and coaches wouldn't have wanted to play the season without him. He also doubled as the starting quarterback, which is a rare feat in football."

Junior Ethan Luloff was a second-team all-league pick and the only junior to make an all-league team at running back.

"Despite his being 5-feet-7-inches and 150 pounds, he has proven to be a tough, durable athlete," stated Powell. "He had at least one run over 40 yards in five of the last seven games. With injuries at the running back position, he was asked to carry the brunt of the carries this season. In our game against La Pine he had a 200-yard game and going into the last game, he was about 115 yards short of 1,000 yards rushing for the season. "

Juniors Andrew Snyder, Austin Morlan and Mitch Keranen earned honorable mention.

Snyder played wingback and was a kick returner for the Outlaws. As a junior, Andrew proved to be a key contributor to the Outlaws' Pistol Offense.

"Andrew made significant contributions as a runner and as a receiver," said Powell. "His blocking continues to improve, and if he continues to develop his physical and athletic skills there is no limit on what he can achieve next season."

Morlan, a defensive lineman, was recognized for his ability to make plays.

"Despite missing a game with injuries, Austin was recognized by the other coaches in the league," said Powell. "Once he understands how good he can be and develops his technical skills, he should be fun for Sisters' fans to watch in the future."

Keranen was recognized for his ability on the offensive line, although he played on both sides of the ball in every game.

"Mitch, at times, has dominated opponents," said Powell. "He just might be one of the top offensive linemen in the league a year from now."
