Holidays get underway at Black Butte Ranch

With the theme of "Winter Wonderland," the holiday season arrives at Black Butte Ranch on Thursday, December 8, as the Gallery at The Lodge presents the art work of Jennifer Lake and an unveiling of her latest unique painting of Black Butte Ranch during the winter holiday season.

The unveiling and artist reception to follow will be held at The Lodge at Black Butte Ranch beginning at 5 p.m. This will be the first in a series of holiday activities scheduled at the Ranch through the end of the year.

In addition to the gallery, the Ranch will be hosting a Breakfast with Santa on December 17-18. Also during this time the Ranch once again will host what is now becoming a tradition: horse-drawn carriage rides provided by Chafin Farm of Sweet Home. The rides will take place December 17-18 and will resume on Christmas Eve through New Year's Day.

Gallery coordinator and assistant to the general manager at the Ranch, Katie Williams, commented, "We're really looking forward to the holiday season and all of the activities we have planned. This time of year is always special and we hope everyone can come out and enjoy what's going on."

In selecting the art work of Jennifer Lake for the gallery, Williams said, "When we decided on our holiday theme, I immediately thought of Jennifer and her winter paintings, and how perfectly they would reflect our theme."

A longtime resident of Sisters, Lake is well-known throughout the Northwest for her philanthropic causes. Her artwork has raised more than $1.5 million for Northwest charities. Commented Lake, "To  be able to create something from nothing and have people enjoy what you have created, and the many nonprofits that have derived income from it, is the greatest joy that one can experience."

In 2012 Lake expects to officially launch the Jennifer Lake Foundation, with 100 percent of all proceeds going to Central Oregon High School Art Scholarships and selected Universities in Oregon.

"My art career has been fascinating, a learning experience with highs and lows, just like life," Lake said. "But I wouldn't change a thing."
