News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
John and Kathryn Leavitt wrote: We had our first "Make a Difference Night" at Leavitt's last Thursday. Our request was to bring in non-perishable food items and/or monies to be given to Sisters Food Bank. The event brought in 79 pounds of food and $900.
While Christmas music played and refreshments were enjoyed, people came together for a night of giving to a very important cause and the satisfaction of shopping locally. Leavitt's gift to our loyal patrons was 20 percent off on all their purchases for the evening.
All of us at Leavitt's wish to thank our community for coming together to not only shop locally and help small businesses such as ours, but to give so graciously back to the Sisters Food Bank.
Thank you to all who participated, and for all of you bringing your holiday spirit; it is very much appreciated.
Susan Bird wrote: You gotta love Sisters! Thanks to all the community members and visitors who donated hygiene items to FAN by "packing the pick-up" for VAST Church at the Christmas parade. Wish you could all see the smiles your donations bring.
Sisters Supper Club held their annual Christmas Party/Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank fundraiser Saturday, December 3. Guests to the event helped the Supper Club in donating 430 pounds of food and a total of $508 to the food bank. The Sisters Supper Club, John and Sande Burgess, Jim and Rennie Morrell, and Gary and Diane Rodgers were very happy with this year's event and pleased to present this donation to the food bank. Thank you to all the guests who helped to make this event a success. This is the fourth year the Sisters Supper Club has supported the food bank with significant donations.
Janie Sampson and sons wrote: Another one of those remarkable people in this community: Greg Willitts and his entire family.
My husband Keith Sampson died unexpectedly in August, leaving a car in Puerta Vallarta. Greg gave up a week of his life and put himself in danger to go retrieve Keith's car and belongings and drive them back from Mexico. If you see Greg, ask him how he avoided confiscation of the car by the corrupt Federales. We are so
grateful.
