Marsha Marr is welcoming her two service-member children.

• Sherry Munion was shopping for a used couch on limited means when she encountered Cheryl and Mike Barkley. The Barkleys declined to take her money and gave her "a living room full of gorgeous furniture."
"This is gorgeous. This is beyond belief," Munion said. "I started crying."
She expressed her profound gratitude for the generous gift.
• Bailey Brienna Showalter made the Western Oregon University Presidents List with a 4.0 GPA. Listed on the honor roll are: Zander Albertson; Jennifer Lee Kaiser; Tyler Joseph Miller; Dane Michael Moorehead.
• Making the honor roll at Oregon State University with a straight-A average is Gaith Bedaywi, senior, chemical engineering. Recording a GPA of 3.5 or better: Alyssa M. Adler, senior, biology; Jennifer L. Binks, junior, natural resources; Alexa M. Orr, junior, animal sciences; Thomas Schantz, junior, political science; Weston D. Shepherd, freshman, pre-elect & computer engineer; Rachel E. Sims, junior, applied visual arts; Jack Z. Yinger, senior, elect & computer engineering.
