Girls soccer names three to All-State

Sara Small, Jodie Reoch and Natalie Ambrose were all selected to All-State teams. The extraordinary trio was instrumental in leading the Lady Outlaws to their second straight state championship game.

This marked the second consecutive year that Small and Reoch were first team All-State selections.

Small was the heart and soul of the Outlaws defense at keeper. Sara tallied 423 career saves over the course of her four years of varsity play and the last two years was named Sky-Em Player of the Year.

"Sara is a once-in-a-lifetime keeper that every coach dreams of and wants on their team," said Coach Nik Goertzen. "She made 96 percent of all practices over four years and played in 72 soccer games in four years and was the only player to do so. Sara was always willing to practice and play more and always thanked me after every practice and game."

Small has several offers to play Division 1 and Division 2 soccer but as yet has not made a decision.

Reoch was a big part of why the Outlaws scored the most points as a team for the last three years combined. Jodie has it all; speed, technique, and according to Goertzen, a willingness to succeed on the field.

Goertzen stated, "Jodie is a gamer! There were times when she would completely take over a game. She led the team to three straight semifinal appearances and two finals appearances. She was the 2011 Sky-Em Player of the Year and has an offer to play at Lane Community College in Eugene."

Sophomore Natalie Ambrose earned honorable mention. Ambrose was the Outlaws' enforcer in the middle of the field. She led the team in scoring this past season and was the fastest girl on the team.
