News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Sisters Trails Alliance has been hard at work behind the scenes over the last couple of years since the completion of the Peterson Ridge Trail expansion, and is poised to make another leap forward.
Last week, the trails alliance wrote a check to the Forest Service for $24,000, funding an environmental assessment that would clear the way for projects including a paved trail from Crossroads to Sisters High School; paving the Tollgate-High School trail; a paved path from Sisters to Black Butte and eventually beyond; another mile of singletrack at the top of the Peterson Ridge Trail; and singletrack from Crossroads to the high school.
The public is invited to the Sisters Trails Alliance annual meeting Thursday, January 26, 7 p.m. at The Pines Clubhouse at the north end of Brooks Camp Road. The keynote speaker is Woody Starr, president of the Central Oregon Trails Alliance, a highly productive trails organization in Bend. There will be drinks, snacks, desserts, and many door prizes.
