James Everett "Jim" Kindorf May 24, 1937 - February 15, 2012

Jim Kindorf, 74, of Black Butte Ranch and Green Valley, AZ, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, died on February 15, 2012, of cancer.

Jim was born in San Francisco, California, to Lyle and Patricia (Swain) Kindorf. After his father died, his mother moved with Jim and his little brother, Rich, to Oakland where he graduated from Oakland High School and the University of California, Berkeley. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

Jim belonged to ROTC at Cal and served as a Captain in the Army Reserves.

He worked for Gilmore Steel Corporation in San Francisco, and Oregon Steel Mills in Portland.

Jim and his wife, Sue, retired to Black Butte Ranch in 1988 where he loved playing golf and tennis. In the winter, he went to Green Valley, AZ, for more golf and tennis. His many friends fondly remember him for his warm smile and generous spirit. He was a gentle, loving man, fiercely loyal to his family and friends. He and Sue would have been married 50 years on March 10.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Sue Bray Kindorf. Proud father to son, Todd (Sandy Galganski) and daughter, Kathryn (Steve Otos). And a loving grandfather to Adam James Kindorf, Jonathan Stanley Kindorf, Grace Elizabeth Otos, Sophia Rose Otos and William James Otos.

He will be missed by his brothers Richard Michael (Gisela) Kindorf, and Harley (Ute) Jensen, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Charlie, Sadie and Phoebe were his adored mini schnauzers.

A celebration of his life is planned at Black Butte Ranch for the end of May.
