Temporary permits covered in code review

The Sisters Planning Commission meets March 15 to review code revisions recommended by city staff in a "mini code review."

Mini code reviews are scheduled on an as-needed basis to clean up and streamline the city building codes and procedures. Electric car charging stations, and second-story accessory buildings are included in this review.

Also included on the agenda are the highly publicized code change requests relating to temporary permits and temporary agricultural stands championed by Wild Mountain owner Ky Karnecki.

The commission's recommendations to the city council will be voted on at the March 22 council meeting. Current staff recommendations are to leave the current city code covering "agricultural stands" unchanged.

During "visitor communication" at the February 23 council meeting, Mayor Kellstrom offered to put Karnecki on the agenda for the March 22 council meeting. The issue of who can add or exclude items on the council agenda has been a topic of discussion of late. City attorney Steve Bryant indicated that the wording describing how agenda items are selected is not clear.  He expects that clarification will be a discussed at the next council workshop or council meeting.
