News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Weekend Trunk Show opens in Sisters

If you're looking to go in style in Sisters Country - without flattening the wallet - Weekend Trunk Show has something in the car for you.

Seriously. In the car. The Sisters boutique features a couple of auto bodies, including a complete Volkswagen Beetle, with their trunks overflowing with a selection of women's accessories from handbags and scarves to hats and jewelry. And it's all priced to be friendly to the budget.

Weekend Trunk Show also houses Vixen Tanning. When the former tanning salon on the site closed, many customers were left with prepaid tanning sessions. Vixen is honoring those sessions.

"We're honoring everyone's tans," said Weekend Trunk Show and Vixen owner Brenda Severson. "It was our decision. It was the right thing to do - and it was the right business decision."

Severson, who also has a full-time job in a doctor's office in Bend, lived in Sisters for many years and always wanted to own a business here. When the opportunity arose, she moved Weekend Trunk Show from its location in the Ironwood District of Bend.

"When I heard that this facility was available, the tanning salon, I thought, 'What a great opportunity to bring them both together and give Sisters something really funky and fun,'" she said.

The fun isn't just for women. Severson and her staff are creating a space where husbands and boyfriends can hang out while the ladies explore the offerings.

"There's going to be a 'Man Cave,'" said Brenda. "They can come in and relax and watch the game."

The complementary businesses are all set to get folks in Sisters Country ready for spring break - whether they're tanning up for sunnier climes or staying right here.

Weekend Trunk Show and Vixen Tanning will be run mostly by Brenda's daughter Brittany, a Sisters High School graduate, and her "BFF" Kayla Joritz.

Weekend Trunk Show and Vixen Tanning are located between Sisters Feed & Supply and The Hair Cache on Main Avenue in Sisters.
