Gilbert was born in Oakland, California, to Gabriel and Theresa (Gelhaus) Ticoulat.
He lived in California until 1957, when he moved to Central Oregon.
He was the owner and operator of Tic Cattle Company in Prineville for many years.
In 1971 he moved to Sunriver and operated and managed stables.
He continued his venture and moved to Black Butte Ranch and managed stables there, and later started High Cascades Stables & Pack Station on Indian Ford Road in Sisters.
He then ventured out to packing horses into the Jefferson Wilderness and Sisters Wilderness area.
He was a longtime member of the Ranchero Vistadores Trail Riding Group out of Santa Barbara.
He lived life to the fullest and always had wonderful stories to tell of his cowboy adventures.
He continued to ride horses through the end of his life.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Overcast, Larilu Post, Sharon Russell, Joy Anderson, Diane Carnahan, Pamela Ticoulat; six sons-in-law; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many wonderful friends. He will truly be missed.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Redmond Memorial Chapel. Please join us for his Memorial Mass, March 31 at 11 a.m. at St. Edward the Martyr Catholic Church in Sisters, with a reception to follow at Bronco Billy's in Sisters.
