News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Sisters Park & Recreation District (SPRD) has hired a new sports manager.
Jerry Kaping was selected from a large pool of candidates. He brings a wide variety of experience to bear, with 13 years of general management experience, as well as managing and coordinating the sports and recreation programs for a fitness facility.
He has served as a basketball coach and mentor to many Sisters athletes. Kaping brings a passion for sports and an excitement for working on behalf of the athletes in the community.
"It's just a perfect fit for me, really," Kaping said of his new endeavor.
"SPRD will continue to build the great partnership that exists for sports and activities with the school district," said SPRD Business Manager Anne Heath. "Jerry's leadership and experience will be a great contribution to strengthening that partnership."
Kaping replaces Ryan Moffat, who resigned from SPRD in order to pursue his passion in ministry. Kaping plans to build on the success Moffat created with sports tournaments. With improvements to the fields adjacent to SPRD's headquarters, it could be possible to attract baseball and softball tournaments (including adult tourneys) to add to SPRD's menu of sports offerings. Kaping said there has also been talk about adding hunters' education classes and fishing derbies and the like.
Kaping begins his employment with SPRD on Tuesday, April 3.
