Sisters to celebrate with Tres de Mayo Fiesta

The Hispanic Coalition of Sisters will be holding its annual Cinco de Mayo fundraising event on Thursday, May 3, at the FivePine Conference Center from 6 to 9 p.m. Since it is being held on May 3, the event is being billed as The Tres de Mayo Fiesta.

This is a gala affair, complete with fine Mexican cuisine prepared by local Hispanic women, entertainment including music and dancing, and a silent auction with some amazing gifts including a week stay at an elegant bay-view rooftop condo in Zihuatenejo, Mexico. Other items for sale include gift certificates from local businesses, all-event passes to the Sisters Folk Festival, art and jewelry created by local artisans, and a guided fishing trip for two on a nearby stream.

Funds raised by this event will be used by the Coalition to conduct its programs for Hispanics in the Sisters community. These include classes in English for adults, and Spanish and folklorico dance classes for children. The coalition awards scholarships for children to participate in local recreation programs and college scholarships for graduates of Sisters High School. The coalition also conducts an extensive outreach program designed to assist Hispanics become involved in the many civic and educational opportunities available in the Sisters community.
