Spring cleaning effort needs volunteers

Sisters is fixing to roll up its sleeves and do a major spring cleaning at all three Sisters schools.

Celebrate Sisters Schools Day on Saturday, May 19, will be a massive volunteer effort to spruce up the schools with projects ranging from painting, landscaping and putting up new tennis nets at Sisters Elementary School (SES) to litter removal and wood chip distribution on the landscaping at Sisters Middle School (SMS) and Sisters High School (SHS).

"The projects at SES are many and require approximately 150 volunteers and will take most of the day to complete," said school board member and project coordinator Andrew Gorayeb.

The high school and middle school projects will require 10-20 volunteers each.

The project will also require spades, paint rollers and roller pans, wheelbarrows, trailers, pickups and more.

Start time is 8 a.m..

Celebrate Sisters Schools Day is about the community pulling together to improve the physical plant at the schools - and to have a good time doing it. With that in mind, there will be a celebration under the tent at SHS with food and live music when the project wraps up at 3 p.m.
