News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
To the Editor:
I would like to know why our town of Sisters is being turned into Knott's Berry Farm of Southern California. And when the roller coaster is going in.
Little by little, that is what our city leaders are doing to our town! (I use that term loosely.) Let's cut down more trees to make room for more pavement/concrete/parking and curbs. And let's have back-in parking! WOW! That's a good one. Everyone that lives here knows how a lot of the tourists drive when they are here. They have a hard time parking when pulling forward; wait till they try it backing in!
It sure would be nice to get our streets paved the right way. Whatever they call what we have is horrible and ugly. (A big waste of money!) I am sure most of the people that have moved to Sisters or have always lived here were drawn here or stayed here because it was a small town with little or no sidewalks; dirt on the side of the road and lots of trees. Not a giant parking lot for tourists who only come here for short periods of time. They all seemed to get around find and spend their money the way the town looked and was before!
I wonder if all this catering to Joe Tourist and his bicycle is for certain people who think they will make another buck off of it. And do they really give a hoot about us (the people of Sisters)?
Because they (the city managers) are systematically turning our small town into a giant parking lot. Thank you City of Sisters.
