Outlaws golfers win tourney at Black Butte Ranch

The boys golf team edged Cottage Grove by three strokes to take championship honors at the Big Meadow Course at Black Butte Ranch on Monday, April 30. Three days later the Outlaws tied for 10th place with Mountain View at the Meadow Lakes Invitational in Prineville.

In Monday's action, Sisters carded a team score of 352 for a first-place finish and the Lions were runner-up at 355. Junction City finished third at 452 and LaPine recorded a 461 for fourth place.

Zach Cummings carded an 82 to lead the Outlaws and Nate Pajutte finished two strokes back at 84. Tyler Berg tallied an 89, Jaxon Stark a 97 and Jacob Hanson rounded out the scoring at 102.

"It was very windy and rainy but it was a good warm-up for us in preparation for districts," said Coach Bill Mitchell.

On Thursday, the weather made it tough for all golfers. A wet course combined with wind gusts over 30 mph made it hard for most players to post low scores.

Summit took first place with a team score of 308 and Redmond was 17 strokes back at 325. Summit B took third at 344 and Bend was fourth at 350. Remaining scores were: Pendleton (353), Crook County (364), Seaside (370), The Dalles Wahtonka (373), LaGrande (377), Sisters and Mt. View (382), Crook County B (395), LaPine (517).
