Artist's work shares passion for horses

Dale Draeger loves horses.

"I wonder if we really change very much," she said. "What I loved as a child, I am still passionate about." A childhood spent riding her horse, exploring nearby trails and playing tag on horseback with friends started the obsession. In her 20s she lived near Lower Bridge.

"My horse would wait patiently while I would drag branches and tumble weeds together to make a jump course out in the bush. There were beautiful places to explore all around us."

Her show of paintings at Sisters Movie House runs until the end of June. It honors the beauty in horses and the horses in the events that take place at the upcoming Sisters Rodeo.

Draeger has been painting for 25 years and is represented by two very fine galleries: the Freed Gallery in Lincoln City and Amy Lauren's Gallery on the island of Kauai. Besides horses, she paints landscapes, riverscapes, portraits and murals.
