Sisters gets ready to celebrate this weekend

The rodeo action isn't all in the arena this weekend.

Folks in the Sisters country will put on their party boots and spurs and get out for a good time, with the action starting Wednesday night.

Sisters Rodeo dance featuring Bob Manning & The Honky Tonk Roadshow with Kimberly Murray Wednesday, June 6 at 9 p.m.

Bronco Billy's Ranch Grill and Saloon is ready to kick off its traditional locals' night on Thursday, with the band Bullet Creek from Snohomish County, Washington. Their rockin' brand of country will surely rock the Bronco Billy's tent as they play Thursday-Saturday night.

Hardtails Bar & Grill has upped the ante in their rodeo offerings this year.

"We learned a lot last year and we're going bigger and better this year," says owner Steve Macy.

That means live music and mechanical bull rides Thursday through Saturday. Former Olympian Tonya Harding will be on hand signing autographs and there will be a tattoo artist available for those who want to immortalize their rodeo weekend in ink.

Hardtails will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday for the parade. Minors are allowed on the premises until 9 p.m.

Slick's Que Co. will serve up their authentic pit barbecue with rib specials all weekend (as well as catering the box seats behind the chutes at the Rodeo) and they'll feature live music by Americana singer-songwriter Russell Nute on Friday and Saturday night.

Takoda's will host their locals' night on Sunday, June 10, with live music by 41 East Band.

Earlier in the weekend they'll host Eppie Ruiz on Friday, June 8, from 8 to 11 p.m.

So if you want to cut loose and kick up your heels, there are plenty of opportunities in Sisters over Rodeo weekend. Authorities note that there will be extensive DUII patrols; a designated driver is a good way to keep a cowboy from waking up behind bars.
