Kathleen K. Bowers died at her home in Redmond on June 6, 2012 at the age of 90.
She was born November 30, 1921 in Sellwood Gardens, Portland, to Atnas Frank and Gertrude (Hendry) Kolaroff.
Kathleen married Archie J. Faris in 1942 they had three children together and were later divorced. In 1956 she married Leonard Bowers and her family grew to six children. Kathleen was a long-time resident of Sisters, while there she was employed at Leithauser Grocery, and also worked as a custodian for Sisters School District. She and Leonard also enjoyed raising beef cattle for several years.
Kathleen enjoyed camping, deer camp especially, fishing, rock hunting and spending time with family and grandchildren.
After moving to Redmond 34 years ago, Kathleen volunteered with SMART Reading, FISH, and Friends of the Library. She was also a long-time member of Redmond Christian Church.
Kathleen is survived by her three children with her first husband: Sage Faris of Massachusetts, Ginger Demaris of Redmond and Trudy Foss of Silverton; she is also survived by two step-children from her second marriage: Pat Emerson of Redmond and Bobbi Page of Redmond; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Bowers and a step-son Richard Bowers.
A memorial service was held Saturday, June 9 at Redmond Christian Church. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to The Gideon's or Friends of the Library at Redmond Library.
