News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Paula Fae Morgan September 12, 1955 - June 1, 2012

Paula Fae Morgan, local business owner and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and wife, passed after a 14-month battle with ovarian cancer.

She spent her last days with her family at her side, holding hands and sharing memories. Paula was 56.

Paula was born in San Jose, California, to William and Barbara McConville. She started her career in the banking industry in Southern Oregon before transitioning to retail, and eventually relocating to Sisters in 1995 to work alongside both her parents, managing the family-run business Christmas Mountain Magic & The Candy Bin. Known for her vibrant spirit and playful nature, Paula helped spread the holiday spirit year-round not only through her work, but also by example through her generosity.

Paula also took many young adults and Sisters High School students under her wing at CMM, teaching them the art of customer service and importance of business acumen. Paula married John Morgan in 1999, and together they purchased the business in 2001, which they continued to operate until relocating to Irvine, California, in 2010.

Family was paramount in Paula's life. She was selfless, compassionate and loving. Paula poured her heart and soul into raising her two sons, Sam and Chad Huff, encouraging them to pursue their passions above all else. Becoming a grandmother three years ago was one of the defining moments in Paula's life, and spending time with her grandchildren Zane and Norah Huff was something she cherished. Paula was never short on hugs.

Paula is survived by her husband of 13 years, John Morgan, sons Sam Huff (and wife Meghan Wright) of Portland, and Chad Huff (and wife Jenna Huff) of Akron, Ohio; sister Pam Ussary of Medford; brother Chet McConville of Sisters; and grandchildren Zane and Norah Huff of Akron, Ohio.

At her request, no service will be held. Instead, she hoped that anyone wishing to honor her memory make a donation in her name to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, www.ocrf.org.
