Sisters set for Country Fair & Art Show

The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration will hold its 17th annual Country Fair and Art Show on Saturday, August 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Art Show and Silent Auction begin with a reception on Friday evening, August 10 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Country Fair is old-fashioned fun for the entire family. For the children there is a petting zoo, face painting, bouncy castle, and lots of games and craft activities. There will also be a return visit from Nochecita, "The Painting Mustang."

The art show and sale in the church's community hall attracts participation from many outstanding regional artists. This year it includes a diverse collection of original, high-quality oils, watercolors, pastels, sculptures, outdoor art, jewelry and other fine crafts.

The show will be juried by prominent Northwest artist Donna Young from Vancouver, Washington.

The silent auction at the Friday evening reception and also on Saturday offers everything from spa packages to golf. A very special item is a hand-crafted potting bench built by Henk Dillewaard, a member of the church.

Visitors can relax under the pines and enjoy the famous ribs and other menu items at the Café Transfig; finishing with the popular homemade Marionberry cobbler à la mode.

The Country Store offers homemade preserves and relishes, fresh produce, candy, home-baked breads and cookies, and potted plants. The Good Book store offers a selection of "gently read" books.

The Country Fair and Art Show is the church's major outreach fundraiser each year, and all funds earned are given back to the community. Over the years this event has generated nearly $150,000 in funds for community support agencies such as Family Action Network, Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, NeighborImpact, Sisters Habitat for Humanity, Arts Discovery program, Bethlehem Inn, and Saving Grace.

The Church of the Transfiguration is on Brooks Camp Rd. at the corner of Highway 242, just west of town. Admission and parking are free. For more information call 541-549-7087.
