Sisters woman badly hurt in crash

An 18-year-old Sisters woman was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 126 at Bradley Road on Sunday.

The emergency call came in just before 8 p.m. Dispatch advised responding units that the vehicle had crashed into a tree, and the single female occupant was injured.

The driver, later identified as Gabriela Rodriguez, had to be extricated from the vehicle. Life Flight was also auto launched to the scene. Firefighters from Sisters-Camp Sherman fire department were able to free Rodriguez from the vehicle, and she was transported to a landing zone on Camp Polk Road.

A friend's dog ran from the wreck and is missing (see Pet Place, page 12).

Highway 126 was shut down for a short period of time during extrication and removal of the vehicle from the scene. The investigation revealed Rodriguez was westbound on Highway 126 toward Sisters. For unknown reasons, Rodriguez left the roadway, and struck a large pine tree near the intersection of Bradley Road.

It does not appear alcohol was a factor in the crash.
