Outlaws fall to Burns

The Outlaws played a great first half against Burns on Saturday, September 8, but were outplayed in the second half in a 36-18 loss.

At the end of the first quarter, Tristen Lewis threw a 49-yard pass to Cole Moore for a touchdown which got the Outlaws on the scoreboard with a 6-0 lead. The Outlaws ran for a two-point conversion, but the run failed.

With just over two minutes left in the second quarter Lewis threw a 12-yard pass to Nate Kaping for the score. The PAT kick failed, but Sisters extended their lead to 12-0.

The Outlaws had a little wind knocked out of them when the Highlanders scored with just 27 seconds left in the half, but Sisters still held the lead at 12-6.

Burns totally dominated the second half. The Highlanders scored 14 points in the third quarter and added 16 additional points in the fourth to push to a 36-12 lead.

Sisters made their final TD with three minutes to go in the game off a seven-yard run by Ethan Luloff. The Outlaws went for two, but the run failed and the game ended 36-18.

Sisters accrued 326 yards of total offense and Burns finished with 353 yards.

Lewis threw for 212 yards and Luloff rushed for 114 yards and one touchdown. Cole Moore had 133 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Mitch Keranan led the defense with 12 tackles. Dexter Muller followed with 11 tackles and Nate Kaping tallied nine tackles, a fumble recovery and a

touchdown.

Coach Gary Hedin put his finger on the major flaw in the Outlaws' game: "We need to eliminate our penalties. We put ourselves in tough situations."

Sisters will play at Madras on Friday, September 14, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
