Outlaws kick off season with wins

Sisters tallied a big 13-0 shutout at Crook County on Tuesday, September 4, and two days later defeated Molalla at home in a tight 2-1 victory.

In Tuesday's action, the Outlaws got on the scoreboard early. At the three-minute mark Eli Boettner followed up on a deflected shot by Jake McAllister for Sisters' first goal. Just one minute later Boettner dished the ball off to Gabe Rietmann who knocked it in and put Sisters up 2-0.

McAllister put in a free kick from the top of the 18-yard box and then scored again when he beat three Cowboy defenders and ripped a beautiful shot to the upper-left corner from just inside the 18-yard box.

Reitmann followed up another McAllister shot for a goal and with less than 10 minutes off the clock and pushed the Outlaws to a 5-0 advantage.

Sisters racked up four more goals over the next 35 minutes, and at the half held a commanding 9-0 lead over the Cowboys.

Colton Mannhalter and McAllister scored goals at the 11th and 13th minute off assists from Evan Rickards. Jadon Bachtold scored off a Kennan O' Hern assist and Mannhalter wrapped up the first half scoring thanks to an assist from Colten Rogers.

The Outlaws tacked on four more goals in the final half. Four minutes into the second half Rietmann made a great cross over to Rickards for a goal. Trent Marks scored a header off a Bachtold assist at the 58-minute mark, and four minutes later McAllister crossed a corner-kick to O'Hern for a goal.

Colten Rogers wrapped up Sisters' scoring frenzy in the 71st minute on an unassisted goal.

Nine different players scored goals for the Outlaws, and the team recorded nine assists. Keeper Drew Corrigan had two saves in the game.

Coach Rob Jensen said that Nicky Blumm, Justin Harrer and Cody Lane were key players in the Outlaws' victory. Jensen also had praise for defensive players Ryan Pollard and Jarden Weems, who were able to shut down a tough Cowboy offense.

"Team play and ball movement prevailed in the first half," Jensen said. "We came out with great intensity and really put our practice plan into effect in the game. Unselfishness and hard work are going to give this team the opportunity to be great."

Thursday's game against Molalla was a much closer contest, and the teams entered the half deadlocked at 0-0.

McAllister scored at the 51-minute mark to give the Outlaws a 1-0 lead. Jake bent a free kick from outside the 18 on the left around a three-man wall, and scored into the side of the net.

The Indians evened the score eight minutes later when they scored off a cross.

In the 83rd minute, the third minute of stoppage, Justin Harrer took a direct kick from the half that deflected off a Molalla defender into the right side of the net for the score. (Referees add stoppage time to the end of the game for time wasted during regular play.)

Sisters protected the ball the remainder of the game and recorded the win. Keeper Drew Corrigan recorded seven saves.

"The team did their job well and executed the game plan," said Jensen. "Molalla passed the ball very well in the first half, but our defense did a great job protecting the goal and keeping the ball out of danger.

"In the second half we made some adjustments with our formation, which allowed Jake (McAllister) to put more pressure on the defense," added Jensen. "Cody (Lane) did a great job defending the returning state player-of-the-year and our entire defense did a great job against the defending state champion Molalla squad."

The Outlaws will play at Redmond on Thursday, September 13, with a start time of 4:30 p.m.
