News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
City Manager Eileen Stein announced that the city and ODOT will hold the long-planned open community meeting to review the Cascade Avenue street project the first or second week in October.
"It is really important to convey (to the public) that the window to make changes to the project is shutting down," said Stein. "There are elements of the project for which this is the final meeting. Some of the construction staging decisions need to made sooner rather than later so that some of that (detail) can get into the bid documents."
Stein indicated a strong desire to reschedule the cancelled August 29 meeting with the Cascade Avenue merchants that had expressed concern about the Cascade Avenue construction shutdown. (See www.nuggetnews.com, "Merchants fear impact of project.")
"The hope is that we have this first meeting as a good listening session to make sure that we thoroughly understand what the concerns are, and then to be able to address those in the community meeting in October," said Stein.
