The Outlaws football team suffered their third loss in league play, falling 41-20 to the Lions at Cottage Grove (CG) on Friday, October 19. The Lions are currently ranked No. 3 in state and were a formidable force.
Cottage Grove scored early and held a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Within the first minute of the second quarter the Lions scored again on a six-yard run, got the PAT and extended their lead to 14-0.
Sisters scored a touchdown with 47 seconds left in the first half. Tristen Lewis threw a 41-yard pass to Cole Moore for the TD and Sisters closed the Lion lead to 14-7. The Lions were able to squeeze in another touchdown just before the buzzer sounded. CG tacked on seven more points and opened up their lead to 21-7 at the half.
CG tacked on a TD in the third to gain a 28-7 advantage.
Sisters and Cottage Grove each scored two touchdowns in the final quarter and the game ended in a disappointing loss for the Outlaws.
The Outlaws' final touchdowns came from Isaac Jackson and Cole Moore. Jackson scored on a 13-yard pass from Lewis and Moore scored on a 65-yard pass. Josh Andrade got the PAT after the Moore TD.
Cottage Grove finished the night with 381 yards of total offense, while Sisters accrued 228 total yards.
Coach Gary Hedin said, "We did move the ball well at times. In the opening drive we moved the ball down the field but then we stalled at the 15-yard line. The kids played hard all night and never gave up."
The Outlaws will wrap up league play at home against La Pine on Friday, October 26.
