Preschool has new facility, new teacher

The Little Cloverdale Preschool has moved to new digs at Sisters Elementary School and has a new teacher for its 4-year-old class.

The cooperative preschool uses the modular unit at the elementary school. According to the school's board chair Bryn Singleton, the move has worked out on several levels. The old facility on George Cyrus Road was just too expensive to maintain, so the move was necessary from a financial standpoint. But it's also brought benefits from early exposure to the school environment. Students have had chances to do projects with older students.

"I think it helps prepare them for kindergarten because they're just ready to be in that building," Singleton said.

Currently The Little Cloverdale Preschool offers only a class for 4-year-olds.

"We're going to try to start a class January 8 for 3-year-olds," Singleton said.

Interested parents should contact the school now.

The school relies heavily on volunteers. Parents spend a day in the classroom about once a month.

"Parents, grandparents, guardians are involved in the school," Singleton said. "It's just meant to form a community of parents and kids - that's the idea. All parents are welcome and encouraged to be involved with the board, but that's not a

requirement."

Ashley Nordell is the teacher for the 4-year-old class. Shye Narro will teach the 3-year-olds.
