Lions Club hosts ongoing holiday crafts fair

With myriad Christmas treasures to explore, Three Sisters Lions Club opened their Holiday Crafts Faire doors on Saturday at Threewind Shopping Center near Bi-Mart. It will be open for business and available for yuletide shoppers daily until December 16.

Showcasing art, crafts and trinkets by nearly two dozen Sisters artists, the seasonal gift market features holiday housewares, artisan Christmas ornaments, festive wreaths decked in silver and gold, college football fan gear and finely detailed wooden toys.

Events coordinator Kathleen Davis welcomed guests and directed them to their tables and shelves of unique merchandise.

"This is our first year here in this location, and so far we're doing great," she said. "We have over 18 vendors so far with more joining us after this weekend and leading up closer to Christmas. Our stock will continue to expand and it's always exciting to see what great items they bring in."

Three Sisters Lions Club is also hosting two raffles for a hand-stitched, hand-sewn heirloom quilt donated by Lawry Thom, and a deluxe 40-piece Matco Silver Eagle tool kit with carrying case.

Davis took a quick tour of the floor, pointing out highlights of their eclectic inventory.

"We have it all - children's tutus, hand-painted ornaments on all the trees, Western feather jewelry, bird houses, china plate and teacup garden stakes and a nice selection of Rob Ralph's vintage bookcases and cabinets."

Some of the hot items have been the hand-blown glass ornaments shaped like reindeer, Christmas trees and snowmen and futuristic recycled-glass candle bases by artists Dan Wilson and Alice Beckstrom.

For the young and young-at-heart, woodworker Ren Broomhead offered a crowded table of his incredible toy trucks and tractors crafted out of black walnut, cherrywood and pine, all parked and patiently waiting for a place of honor beneath someone's shining Christmas tree.

Back in the far corner, a Ducks and Beavers football fan section was stuffed with gift items themed in your favorite Oregon college's official colors: fleece pillows and stadium blankets, mittens and scarves, ornaments and stocking-stuffers aplenty - enough to fulfill any holiday wish list.

"It's a great place to shop for the holidays, and we hope all of Sisters stops by and thinks of us in their gift-buying plans," said Davis. "It helps support the Lions and all our generous and talented artisans. We also offer an excellent gift-wrapping service for a small fee. We'll even wrap your other outside gifts if you bring them in, too!"

The Three Sisters Lions Club Holiday Crafts Faire is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and weekends 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through December 16. For more information call 541-595-6967.
