News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Outlaws have been hard at work preparing for the season ahead. Leading the team will be returning varsity players Eli Harrison and Cole Moore.
Harrison, at 6-feet-5-inches, started at wing for the Outlaws last season and averaged 17.6 points, six rebounds and two assists per game. Eli is a smooth player with a great mid-range jumper and is a threat from anywhere on the court. Harrison was co-Player of the Year last year and was also a first-team all-state pick.
Moore is also back for another season along with Ryan Pollard, who was a swing player last season.
"These three players are very athletic and have the ability to score from a variety of ranges," stated Coach Rand Runco.
Joining the team this year are seniors Isaac Jackson, Ethan Luloff and Mitch Keranen, juniors Lane Adams and Jen Stadeli, and sophomores Connor Schaab, Justin Harrer, Tyson Gill and Tristen Lewis.
Runco said the three seniors will bring great energy and athleticism to the team and he expects juniors Adams and Stadeli to step up as the season progresses.
Runco told The Nugget that sophomores Schaab, Harrer, Gill and Lewis all played well over the summer months and are hard at work at practice and show a strong future.
The Outlaws will kick their season off with a tough pre-season schedule. Sisters will open at Crook County and then face 5A Summit and Mountain View.
Runco said, "We need to become a team and build our chemistry. The players are practicing very hard and getting ready. We don't know who will be on the court for us yet but they are all great young men and exciting players. I believe we have the potential to again be one of the best defensive teams in the state. Offensive chemistry will come with time. Our league will be stronger this year and should have good parity."
Sisters kick off their season with a jamboree at Redmond on Wednesday, November 28.
