News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Get into the Holiday Spirit this year by following the Seventh Annual Gingerbread Trail, a benefit for Sisters Habitat for Humanity.
You can see the creations at 23 participating businesses in Sisters Country. The trail begins three miles east of town at Brand 33 Restaurant, or if you're coming from Bend, at the Bend/Sisters Garden RV Resort. The trail picks up again in the downtown core and heads west.
See creations at: Sisters Bakery; Metolius Property Sales; Jennifer Lake Gallery; Melvin's Fir Street Market; The Dime Store/ Desert Charm; Your Store; Alpaca by Design; BJ's Ice Cream; The Depot Café; Paulina Springs Books; Sisters Coffee Co.; Blazin Saddles; Bank of the Cascades; Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce; Metamorphosis Spa; Sisters Habitat Thrift Store; Sisters Habitat ReStore; Ray's Food Place; Takoda's Restaurant; Sisters Park & Recreation District; and the trail ends at The Lodge at Suttle Lake, 13 miles west of Sisters.
Maps are located at the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce, Sisters Habitat ReStore and Thrift Store as well as all participating businesses.
There is a little competition involved: Beside each creation is an accompanying house bank. Spectators can vote for their favorite creation by placing money in the bank (of course, you may have more than one favorite!) The gingerbread creation with the most money wins the People's Choice Award. All proceeds benefit the building program of Sisters Habitat for Humanity.
Participating businesses will display their creations until January 2.
