Trail work parties set for December

Hikers and bikers have an opportunity to enhance the trails system they enjoy in Sisters Country - and receive a free lunch in the bargain.

Two Sisters Trails Alliance work parties are scheduled, December 1 and December 5. The December 1 work party is an "on-foot" workday to prepare one mile of new trail on the new loop closest to Sisters Cow Camp.

The event involves mostly raking, and installing new signs. Tools will be provided.

The December 5 effort will be on horseback, and a hammer will be required. The entire length of the new loop out of Sisters Cow Camp will be signed. It is about 8 miles in length. It departs from the Metolius-Windigo Trail north of Sisters Cow Camp, loops out around the Crossroads Subdivision to Trout Creek, then makes it's way back to the Metolius-Windigo. Most of the trail will be on forest roads, but about a mile will be on new single-track.

RSVP to Kim McCarrel at 541-410-4552 or [email protected] so she will know how many lunches are required and she can notify participants of any changes. Meet at SPRD (at the west end of the Sisters High School parking lot) and wear appropriate clothing for the weather, sturdy boots or shoes, work gloves, and bring water.
