News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Even in a community as small as Sisters, it sometimes seems that the right hand doesn't know what the left had is doing. Duplication of effort, miscommunication and misunderstanding can impede or even derail good ideas.
The Sisters Leadership Group is designed to avert that sort of problem, putting shot-callers into the same room so that those who are trying to do good work in the community can support each other.
"The whole idea behind this ... is to make sure we have communication and collaboration among government agencies and businesses in the Sisters community," said Jim Golden, who, as schools superintendent, is part of the group.
The roster includes the Sisters School District, the City of Sisters, Sisters Park & Recreation District, the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce, the local fire district and individuals associated with these
organizations.
Golden is quick to emphasize that the group is about more than meetings and keeping each other in the loop. He and others involved want to "get some substantive projects done."
A first project will be the subject of the next meeting of the group in January.
