News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Lady Outlaws had a tremendous volleyball season and to cap it off had two of their players selected to all-state teams. Senior Shannon Fouts was named first-team all-state and Megan Minke was a second-team all-state selection.
Fouts was also the Sky-Em league Most Valuable Player and was co-captain of the varsity squad. Shannon finished the season with 422 assists, 71 digs, 49 kills and 16 blocks and was successful on 94 percent of her serves.
"Shannon was our setter and leader of our team," stated Coach Miki McFadden. "She set whatever set our hitters could hit and fit her sets to the abilities of the hitters, which made them successful. She also could hit every spot on the court with her jump serve and could really serve to the opposition's weaknesses. She was a strong, positive leader who played hard every day. She was always trying to improve and help others get better, too."
Minke was the Outlaws' kill leader for the season and co-captain along with Fouts. Megan tallied 168 kills, 35 blocks and 11 digs over the course of the season.
"Megan was one of our middle hitters and liked to hit threes, lower and between outside and middle," said McFadden. "She was effective hitting and tipping and had good power hitting to the left or right. She was consistent on the net and very competitive."
