Sisters business at a glance

• Sisters landed a spread in a Japanese magazine. Patchwork Magazine featured 14 pages on the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, Sisters, Jean Wells-Keenan, Tonye Belinda Phillips, Stitchin' Post and Valori Wells-Kennedy. The Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce is working at getting it translated for quotes.

Patchwork Magazine is a targeted publication that focuses on quilting and sewing in Japan with a circulation of 130,000. They are developing a 14- to 16-page piece focusing on Sisters, the Two Rivers, Three Sisters quilt project, quilting stores in Sisters, Portland and of course the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show (valued at 7-8 million yen or roughly $100,00 USD).

Also, Sisters is the feature community in the "72 hours" section in 1859 Magazine's January/February issue. 

• With its 75th season in full swing, Hoodoo Ski Area is preparing a celebration of its rich history as Central Oregon's original ski resort and 75 consecutive days of prize giveaways.

Starting this week, Hoodoo guests will be able to enter a drawing for a daily giveaway. Guests can enter at http://www.hoodoo.com or Hoodoo Facebook once daily and eligibility will reset every day, regardless of previous wins during the 75 days. The 75th Anniversary celebration will take place January 19.

Black Butte Ranch presents the 75th anniversary celebration with a fire in the bowl, complimentary s'mores, and a hot-cider toast to celebrate the occasion. Throughout the day Black Butte Ranch will have a ski "posse" on the mountain giving out prizes and a chance to win a Ski and Stay Package.

• On Tuesday, January 29, Sisters Athletic Club will host a blood drive for the American Red Cross.

Interested donors may call SAC to schedule an appointment between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided, and all donors will receive a free guest-pass to Sisters Athletic Club for use in 2013.
