Boys basketball loses to La Pine

The Outlaws recorded their third straight loss in league when they dropped their game at La Pine on Friday, February 1, in a final score of 40-23.

Sisters' defense was exceptional the first two quarters of the contest and kept the game close. At the half the Outlaws held a 15-14 lead.

The Outlaws' defense stayed strong, but unfortunately the offense wasn't there. The Outlaws just could not get their shots to fall.

La Pine outscored the Outlaws 26-8 in the second half.

Coach Rand Runco said, "We played tremendous defense but could not score. La Pine averages about 60 points a game and the kids did an outstanding job defending them. Ethan Luloff, Cole Moore, Justin Harrer, Ryan Pollard, Lane Adams and Tyson Gill all did a tremendous job on defense. In fact, I would say the first half we played our best defense all season."

The Hawks' run and jump press and traps kept the Outlaws off balance throughout the contest. The Outlaws got in early foul trouble and Lane Adams and Tysen Gill came in off the bench and played terrific against a heavy senior Hawk team.

Runco said, "La Pine played great. They shot the ball well, were patient and went 7/8 from the line."

The Outlaws only converted one of their seven attempts from the line.

Justin Harrer led the Outlaws with eight points and Ryan Pollard added seven.

Sisters is currently 2/4 in league play. The Outlaws will play at Junction City on Friday, February 8, and the following Tuesday, February 12, they will travel to Cottage Grove.
