Service work in the Sisters community is always so gratifying to me. I was honored to be a part of the veterans chili feed this last Saturday and witness the importance of recognizing and appreciating the efforts of our local veterans. This year the attendance increased from last year and our hope is that the Sisters community continues to come and enjoy the chili feed and the fellowship of local folks that support our veterans.
Thank you to the Sisters Community Church and to those who attended and rolled up their sleeves to wash dishes and serve up chili and smiles to attendees. Special thanks go to Terry Burke, my brother, Steve Olson (affectionately known as "Oly") and to my dear friends Barb and John Ferguson. Also, special thanks go to Tommy Salgado, for always being there with his camera to document the event and to Valerie and Micaela Hester from Bend, who helped greatly in the success of the day.
