Letters to the Editor 04/17/2013

To the Editor:

Having lived and owned a business in Sisters for 39 years, I am appalled by the behavior of our elected officials in the city. Only one of you has ever set foot in my business or asked for input. Now that the "majority" has gotten their way I think it is time to put aside hidden agendas and to learn to work together for the betterment of the City of Sisters. That is what you were elected to do.

I would like you as a council to go back to your earlier "goal-setting" session this year and let that agenda you all agreed to drive your budgetary and administrative actions. Now you can find a way to move forward for the betterment of the city. If this is not possible for the five of you then I suggest that you get a trained third party in to help you to put the past behind you and learn to work together. Each of you brings skills and talents to the positions that you were elected for. This "them and us," "we have the votes" mentality needs to stop! It takes five good council members to do the job!

Remember, it is not about your personal agendas, it is about what is best for Sisters. You represent all of us!

The Little Paper That Could - our little town of Sisters is lucky to have an editor and publisher who endorse any and all information for the betterment of our kids. The Nugget was the first to publish information on Post Concussion Syndrome/Traumatic Brain Injury, as it related to my daughter Jenna.

Jenna's goal is to bring awareness to other young athletes about the risk of concussions that may lead to traumatic brain injury. The "Invisible Injury" is preventable and with the dedication and commitment of The Nugget Newspaper, she has been given the platform to do just that.
