Outlaws no-hit Cottage Grove

Justin Harrer and Joey Morgan combined to pitch a no-hitter against Cottage Grove in the Outlaws' third and final game of the week at home in Sisters on Friday, April 12. Sisters crushed the Lions 16-0 in five innings.

The Outlaws pounded the baseball, producing 37 runs in three games. Sisters defeated Junction City 9-2 at home on Monday, April 9, and two days later earned a 12-5 win at La PIne.

In Friday's big win against the Lions, Harrer pitched the first three innings and recorded six strike-outs. Morgan pitched the final two innings and recorded three strike-outs.

Nicky Blumm got the Outlaws' bats going with a base hit to start the contest. Harrer followed with a beautiful bunt single and Jarden Weems advanced both runners with a sacrifice fly. Morgan hit a double down the line to score the first two runs. Sam Calarco blasted a double to right field and scored Morgan and Eli Boettner scored Calarco on a base hit to right field to give the Outlaws a 4-0 lead to close out the first inning.

The Outlaws scored five more runs in the second, highlighted by Harrer's double to center field. Sisters tacked on one run in the third and finished with six runs in the fourth, which included a triple to right field by Morgan.

Four players had multiple hits for Sisters. Morgan went 4-for-4, Harrer went 3-for-4 with a double, Weems was 2-for-3 with a triple, and Boettner was 2-for-4.

Coach Steve Hodges said, "I think we played our best baseball game today. Overall, we're putting the ball in play and hitting the ball pretty hard. It's also been nice to see our pitching staff improve. We've been throwing a lot of strikes and, obviously, that's a big benefit to our success. We've especially seen improvement in Justin (Harrer) and Joey (Morgan) these past couple of weeks. I think they're going to pitch well in their next start."

In Monday's game against Junction City (JC), the Outlaws gave up two hits, and allowed the Tigers to score two unearned runs.

Singles from Blumm, Morgan and Weems, along with five Tiger errors, resulted in an 8-0 lead for the Outlaws after one inning of play.

In the second inning, Blumm scored for Sisters' ninth run.

The Tigers scored a run in the third inning, and then with the bases loaded the Outlaws tried a pick-off play which failed and gave JC their second run and put the score at 9-2.

Blumm pitched the first three innings for the Outlaws, Harrer took care of the fourth and fifth and Boettner closed the sixth and seventh.

Two days later, Sisters earned a road victory at Laâ¯Pine.

Weems pitched the first five innings and was the winning pitcher of record. Boettner pitched the sixth inning and Dillon Witt closed out the seventh. Witt faced just three batters and the game was over.

The Outlaws tallied four of their runs in the second inning and at the close of the fourth the Outlaws were on top 6-3.

Sisters poured it on in the fifth and tacked on five more runs highlighted by a nice RBI double from Harrer and RBI singles from Weems, Morgan and Calarco.

Weems had a big game for the Outlaws, going 3-for-5 with three RBI. Morgan contributed two RBI. Blumm was 2-for-5 with an RBI, Calarco turned in an RBI and Witt went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Harrer was 3-for-4 with a double to the left-field fence.

The Outlaws will travel to Sweet Home on Friday, April 19.
