Outlaws lacrosse crushes opponents

Sisters' boys' lacrosse team is firing on all cylinders and trounced their competition this past week. The Outlaws crushed Redmond 17-1 at home on Tuesday, April 16, and three days later posted a 19-2 victory over Hermiston.

Sisters controlled both ends of the game and won faceoffs, scored on man up, and dominated the groundballs for the third consecutive game. The win pushed the Outlaws to a 3-0 league record and ensured them a playoff seed.

The games produced some very impressive stats. Scoot Nelson led the Outlaws with nine goals and Zach Valoppi recorded seven. Porter Ford, from defense, recorded a goal in each game.

Rexford noted that Jens Stadeli and Isaiah Glatz have won 75 percent of their faceoffs in the last three games.

The Outlaws still face tough games ahead against Bend, Summit, and Harney.

It's obvious that the Outlaws are doing many things right.

"The team is clicking on both ends of the field," stated Rexford. "Our offense has vastly improved with Mitch Keranen, Zach Valoppi and Drew Corrigan getting many looks and getting comfortable managing the game. They are not only scoring threats, but are looking to feed and now know where their teammates are on the field."

Rexford told The Nugget that Jens Stadeli, Scott Nelson, Isaiah Glatz, Gabe Reitmann, Trevor Barry and Kyle Van Krieken are playing excellent lacrosse at the midfield position and sophomores Joe Jones and Chris Burdick are contributing strong support and gaining valuable varsity experience.

The Outlaws were scheduled to play at Bend on Tuesday, April 23. Sisters will play at home against West Salem on Thursday, April 25, and the following Tuesday will travel to Summit.
