Outlaws clinch league title again

The Outlaws routed their competition this past week to push their league record to 13-0 and clinch the Sky-Em league title. Sisters defeated Elmira 11-1 and took down Junction City 11-0.

Sisters started their week on Monday, April 29 with a win over Elmira. The home game only went five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

The Outlaws brought in 11 runs on 13 hits and one error. The Falcons had one run on three hits and three errors. Justin Harrer was the Outlaws' winning pitcher. Harrer pitched the first four innings and Eli Boettner closed out the fifth.

The Outlaws scored their first five runs of the game in the third inning. Nicky Blumm led off with a bunt single, made it to third on an overthrow to first base and then crossed the plate off Harrer's base hit. Joey Morgan and Sam Calarco also had RBI singles in the inning.

Sisters added five more runs in the fourth. Joey Morgan's double down the left field line and Ryan Pollard's RBI single to right field highlighted the inning.

Hitting stars for the game were Morgan, who went three-for-three with three RBI, Calarco who went one-for-three with two RBI, and Jarden Weems who was two for three.

On Wednesday, the Outlaws earned an 11-0 road win at Junction City.

Morgan and Weems combined for a no-hitter and combined for 10 strike-outs in the game.

Weems hit a ground rule double in the first inning that scored Blumm and got the Outlaws started. Sisters scored three runs in the first to take a 3-0 lead.

Sisters added two more runs in the fifth including a two-out single for an RBI by Dillon Witt. Morgan ripped an RBI double in the sixth and Sisters tacked on one additional run to secure the win.

The Outlaws have two league games remaining and then will head into playoffs.

"We have to definitely elevate our game in the playoffs," stated Coach Steve Hodges. "We're going to face much tougher pitching than we have in league and we're going to try and make that adjustment in practice. We also have to work on our offensive execution and we're going to put players in pressure situations and see how they perform."

The Outlaws were to play La Pine at home on Tuesday, May 7, and will play at La Pine on Friday in their final league game of the season. Sisters will host the first round of the state playoffs on Wednesday, May 22. Their opponent is yet to be determined.
