News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Robert "Bob" Eugene Hurd February 23, 1951 - April 28, 2013

Bob lost his extended battle with cancer and went home to be with the Lord. Bob's earlier years were spent caring for thoroughbred race horses on both the East and West Coast. His love for animals showed in the relationship he had with his wonderful dog, "Hun."

During his last 20 years, Bob lived in Bend and Sisters. Every time he returned to Sisters, he would say, "I'm home." He loved the Sisters community more than any place he had ever traveled to. He had numerous acquaintances and many friends that thought very highly of him, and his "que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be" attitude.

Bob was one-of-a-kind, with a free spirit, a smile, a greeting, and an appreciation for people, nature, and life. Bob, our friend, we will miss seeing you and Hun at your special places in Sisters. Bob made special provisions for Hun before passing.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held Sunday, May 19 at 1 p.m. at the Village Green Park in Sisters. Contributions may be made to Partners in Care Hospice, 2075 N.E. Wyatt Ct., Bend, OR, 97701, http://www.partnersbend.org.
