News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Sisters salutes...

•â¯Brothers From Sisters turned in a stellar Pole Peddle Paddle performance, winning the open division in a photo-finish, with a time of 1:52:50.

The team consisted of Greg Zadow (skate ski), Keith Banning (downhill), Rich Hummel on the bike, Jarid Kling manning the kayak and Travis Neuman taking the running duties. According to Zadow, it was Neuman's ferocious kick at the end of the race that made the difference for Brothers From Sisters. Hats off to a fine achievement!

•â¯Rachel Pilliod, a 2006 Sisters High School (SHS) and a 2011 University of Oregon graduate, will attend Willamette University Law School this fall. Willamette offered her a $6,000/year scholarship. She plans on using her bachelor's degree in general science to pursue a career in patent law. Besides her academic pursuits, Rachel enjoys horseback riding, photography, fishing and hiking.

She and her brother Matthew, a 2009 SHS grad, are working at Tetherow Golf Course this summer. Rachel and Matthew are the children of Mark and Cindy Pilliod of Sisters.

•â¯Congratulations to the graduating seniors who received scholarship awards at the awards presentation on Tuesday, May 21. And hats off to a generous community that provides thousands of dollars in support to its students as they move into their post-high-school education.
