JJ Harrison visits Sisters Elementary

JJ Harrison's energy, enthusiasm and crazy antics had Sisters Elementary School students clapping and cheering during a special assembly on Friday afternoon, June 7. Harrison made his seventh straight appearance as Sisters Rodeo clown last weekend, and each visit he makes time for students at the elementary school.

"I love it here," said JJ. "I love coming to Sisters Elementary School. I used to teach school, and this keeps me connected with kids. Sisters Rodeo is my absolute favorite and I click well here. Sisters was my first big PRC rodeo and I love the rodeo committee, the people and the community."

While joking with the kids, JJ said, "Sisters' rodeo always has a beautiful queen, hairy cowboys and the best fans in the whole world, and I've been to rodeos from the West Coast to the East Coast."

JJ brought along his 5-year-old son, Huck, who shared his thoughts on his dad being a rodeo clown.

"Well, he goes to a rodeo for a few days," said Huck. "He's very funny and stuff and he wears makeup at the rodeos."

Highlighting the assembly was JJ trying to rope Sydney Wilkins and Cody French, who he stated were "the fastest girl and boy on the planet." Both Wilkins and French escaped the toss of the lasso and earned their very own Cactus rope. JJ also tried to rope lead teacher, Barb Kamrath, to the screams and delight of the children.

To conclude the assembly, JJ told the kids, "There will always be winners and losers whenever you compete, even at the rodeo. But, it's not about winning and losing. It's about the ride along the way and the friendships that you make."
