News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Annamarie Norman has a passion for photography, and she's turned that passion into a new Sisters business.
Norman is the proprietor of Blue Orchid Photography, which opened this month in Town Square next to Ali's restaurant. Blue Orchid serves as Norman's photography studio - and more.
"With the big space, we have also opened a gallery here for some of my landscape photography, and we're also going to have some local artists' work here," Norman said.
Norman, who moved here three years ago with husband Cody and her children, is an eclectic photographer.
"I do a little bit of everything," she said. "I do landscape work for personal pleasure because it's so beautiful here."
She has a particular specialty in family and pet photography, and she shoots on location or in the studio. She also shoots for maternity, newborns, senior pictures and weddings.
Her own family was her entrée into the art. Like all moms, she took lots of photos of the kids.
"You get that first camera and start taking pictures," she said.
For most, photography begins and ends there, but for Norman, it became something much more profound than a hobby.
"I just fell in love with it," she said. "It's definitely a passion of mine - and I wanted to turn it into a career."
Blue Orchid Photography studio is located at 161 E. Cascade Ave., #8
