Elements salon opens in Sisters

Sheila Jones has been cutting hair for 22 years.

"I've been working in hair salons since high school," she said.

Now she's opened her own Elements salon in Sisters, a place she visited a lot growing up.

A native Oregonian, Jones got her start in the salon business in Carlsbad, California. She worked there for nine years before returning to Oregon, where she has operated Salon Amour in Silverton for years, building up a loyal clientele.

"I still go over to the Valley to Salem and Silverton to cut hair," she said.

Feeling the need for a change, she headed over to the dry side of the hill - and she had an eye on the little spot on Elm Street between Cascade and Hood avenues.

"I kept driving by and thinking this would be the perfect hair studio," she said.

The space became available and Jones moved in, ready to build a Sisters clientele.

"I like the artistic side of (hair styling)," she said. She also likes "getting to know people. I like to make people feel good about themselves."

Elements places a strong emphasis on the use of organic products.

"I've always believed in the natural, organic products," she said. "I think the less chemicals we use in general (the better) - and working in a less toxic environment."

She's interested in carrying locally made artisan organic products.

Walk-ins are welcome. Appointments may be made by calling 541-719-1289.
