Sisters salutes...

• The City of Sisters commends Jared May for his stellar behavior at this year's Quilt Show.

Jared had a great idea to help with the fundraiser for his eighth-grade school trip to Washington D.C. He would sell water on Quilt Show day. Jared did everything "right." He came to City Hall, found out that he needed a permit, found out about the rules and regulations for being a "transient vendor" in the city of Sisters and found out about the ordinance that prohibits "hawking" or calling out in public.

Jared showed up on Saturday with his wagon full of ice-cold water and his permit prominently displayed and found others already there without permits, yelling out that they had water for sale, some of who had already been told that they would not be able to sell their water that day because they did not have a permit to do so.

Jared refused to compete with these other "illegal" vendors, stuck to his guns and continued throughout the day quietly going about his business. We're sure Jared lost out on quite a few sales that day by doing the "right thing." Just know, Jared, that your honesty and integrity are deeply appreciated.

• Breaking Barriers Crossfit and Cascade Fitness would like to thank the Sisters Fire Department for their generous donation and participation in our "AZ 19" WOD (Workout of the Day), for the families of 19 Arizona firefighters who lost their lives when they were overrun by the Yarnell Hill fire last month.

We also would like to thank all those who participated and supported our athletes. They did a great job. All who partook won a free membership for the month of August at BBCF.
