Green Ridge Fire containment expected Saturday

The Green Ridge Fire is holding at 420 acres and 30 percent containment. Estimated date for full containment has been pushed back to Saturday, August 10.

The fire was active on Monday, keeping air tankers busy, their efforts focused on the south end of the fire. Spot fires that occurred on Sunday were all lined on Monday, and firefighters were to begin mop-up operations on the north side of the fire Wednesday, and re-establish new lines on the east and south sides of the fire.

Smoky conditions can be expected in the Camp Sherman area.

Current resources on the fire include 13 hand crews, 18 engines, 10 water tenders, six helicopters, five bulldozers, with a total of 452 personnel assigned to the incident.

Closures remain in place in the fire area, including:

• Forest Road 14 from the 900 junction to the 1490 junction;

• The East Metolius Trail;

• Lower Bridge Campground;

• Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery;

• Allen Springs Campground;

• Pioneer Ford Campground;

More "smokes" were reported on Monday, but all the other fire starts in the Sisters Country have been completely suppressed, according to fire officials.

Isolated thunderstorms are predicted for the Sisters Country on Thursday and Saturday.
